Students will conduct independent projects using different approaches, ranging from observational studies and/or manipulations in the field to laboratory studies. The class takes advantage of the Gump Station's library, laboratory, and wet lab facilities. While most field studies occur off-Station, a few students conduct their field research on the Gump Station property each year.
The class aims to teach undergraduate students the biology and geomorphology of tropical islands through field and laboratory projects in which students explore the ecosystems of Moorea. The students will be supervised by professors and graduate student instructors from the University of California, Berkeley.
