    After completing his «Diplôme de technicien supérieur de la mer» (DTSM) at the "Institut National des Sciences et Technique de la mer" (INTECHMER) in France, Vetea went to James Cook University, Australia, to undertake a Bachelor of Marine science following by a Master of applied science in Marine biology. During his studies, he did volunteer work on a variety research projects, such as identifying algae from turtle's stomach content, leading experiment on thermo-tolerance of coral reef fishes, scientific monitoring of an artificial coral garden and so on. With his Australian educational degrees and experience, he returned to French Polynesia to become part of the biocode team here at the GUMP station, working as the Molecular laboratory technician for the "Moorea biocode" project.
