In order to avoid conflicts of use of the maritime area, in addition to existing regulations (see Regulated fishing zones by the Marine Resources Department (DRM)  , the island of Moorea has adopted regulations that define the conditions for the use, development, protection and valorization of the lagoon under the direction of a Permanent Committee so called CGEM (PGEM is the former name).
