Traveling to other Islands within French Polynesia
Traveling via Ship/Ferry
The majority of ships that travel to the outer islands pass through the Port of Papeete on Tahiti, which is ten miles from Moorea and reachable via either the Moorea-Tahiti ferries or by Air Moorea. See the Outer Island Ferry Schedule page for schedule and contact information.
Traveling via Plane
Air Tahiti is the regional and only carrier within French Polynesia. They fly to nearly all major islands via Papeete.Their website lists their schedules between islands and you must request a price. Ticket prices are set once a year and tickets are only available from an air tahiti representative. Flights are priced based on demand and fall into three color categories: blue at 0% discount, white at 10% discount and red for 20% discount For those visiting the station that are 25 years old and younger, it is recommended that you acquire a young person-discount flight card (Cartes Juenes) which can save up to 20%, 30% or 50% off a flight depending on its color. See the Air Tahiti discount pass page for more details. They also offer island-discount passes which group travel between 3-5 islands together for a very reasonable price.
