After completing his «Diplôme de technicien supérieur de la mer» (DTSM) at the "Institut National des Sciences et Technique de la mer" (INTECHMER) in France, Vetea went to James Cook University, Australia, to undertake a Bachelor of Marine science following by a Master of applied science in Marine biology. During his studies, he has done many volunteering work for various research project such as identifying algae from turtle's stomach content, leading experiment on thermo-tolerance of coral reef fishes, scientific monitoring of an artificial coral garden and so on. With those degrees and experience he then came back to French Polynesia. He is now part of the biocode team here at the GUMP station as the Molecular laboratory technician for the "Moorea biocode" project.
