FEES

Rates & Billing

Effective 1 March 2007: The Gump Station charges a 'flat daily fee' per person (researcher, professor, or student). The fee gives access to all shared facilities (subject to availability and according to Station usage policies). It includes usage of labs, internet, scuba, cars, and boats. The base rates are calculated to recover the full cost of operating the Gump Station. The University of California, however, subsidizes operations and thus most users are not charged the full cost rate (see rates below).

As many users have to plan their budgets over a multi-year period, the Gump Station strives to maintain stable rates. Any changes will be posted with as much notice as possible.

A day use fee is charged for users not housed at the Gump Station (non-residents)

A daily resident fee (self-catering) is charged for users staying in one of the Station's three housing options:

Dorm = 1 x base rate. Shared rooms charged per person with up to 3 people (of the same gender) per room

Waterfront bungalow = 2 (or 3) x base rate. Private rooms (shared kitchen/bath) charged assuming a minimum of double (or maximum of triple) occupancy

Hillside bungalow = 4 x base rate. Private bungalows charged assuming an occupancy of 4 people (any additional people >4 are charged at the base rate).

Subsidized Rate - UC Users

Station Non-Residents
Day Use per person $24

Billing

Usage will be summarized each month and an invoice presented. Goods and services that are not covered by the flat fee (e.g., catering services, customs agent) are billed separately. Users requiring such goods and services must notify the Gump Station management in advance.

All invoices are issued by the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research in Berkeley and this is where all payments must be sent. Payment options and instructions will be sent with your invoice. The Gump Station in Moorea does not issue invoices or accept any payments.

Usage Policy

Facilities are shared and users should contact the Station in advance to ensure the availability of the facilities they require (i.e., housing, labs, vehicles, boats etc.)

Catering

All housing options have kitchen facilities and base rates assume self-catering.

A full catering service is available for groups on request. The meals are prepared by an external caterer (a local family) who offers a nice blend of Polynesian and European cuisine. As of September 2007, the caterer charges $25 per person per day (full-board) but the current rate should be confirmed when making your reservation.
