Undergraduate and post-graduate students come to Moorea either as part of a class or to carry out independent thesis research. The Gump Station provides support and guidance for these classes but is not responsible for the course content or the selection of students.
Professors interested in running undergraduate or graduate level courses should contact us.
Masters and Doctoral students from any university are welcome to conduct their thesis research in Moorea and should fill out the research project application.
A limited number of graduate student fellowships are available for students who base their projects at the Gump Station.
The Gump Station also supports graduate field courses organized by professors from a number of different institutions. Interested students should contact the professor responsible for our current courses, or encourage a professor at their institution to contact us about organizing a new course in Moorea.
Undergraduate students generally come to the Gump Station with one of our organized field courses. Applications for individual undergraduate research projects will be considered but they must include a letter of support from the student's faculty advisor. Generallly, students should also have identified a supervisor in Moorea.

The Gump Station is a perfect facility for field courses in a variety of disciplines. The (optional) meals are prepared by a local family who run a catering service which offers a nice blend of Polynesian and European cuisine.
Field courses are coordinated by Associate Director Frank Murphy who has many years of experience in running field courses in French Polynesia and elsewhere.
Professors from any recognized academic institution can apply to run a field course at the Gump Station.
The Gump Station has supported numerous graduate students in Moorea over the years through various funding sources. Current opportunities (2010-2011) are listed below:
