Frank Murphy graduated from UC Santa Cruz in 1985 with a B.A. in Biology, and a B.A. in Environmental Studies. His graduate work was in Geography and he used the Gump Station as a base for fieldwork on coral reef and reef island geomorphology. He obtained his MA from the UCB Geography
Department in 1992, the same year that he began working at the station as Manager. He worked as station manager until mid 1997, at which time he left to form an ecotourism company before returning in 2001.

Present Position
Frank is responsible for operations and facilities at the Gump Station. Frank also coordinates Station field courses.
